We love all the restaurants that proudly feature Opinel at their tables, but the Beckon has a special place in our hearts! Step inside and you’ll find yourself in one of Denver’s best-kept secrets: a reservation-only chef’s counter unassumingly tucked inside a cozy converted house in Denver’s RiNo neighborhood. This is not a place for walk-ins or quick bites. In the Beckon, everything is deliberate - the prepaid tasting menu that changes with Colorado’s seasons, the warm welcome you get from the team, and even the table knives.
Chef Duncan Holmes creates culinary art right in front of you. The restaurant makes the most of local farms and ranches, and guests are always greeted by fresh ingredients whose very essence makes its way on the plate.
Allison, Beckon’s Director of Experience, keeps the atmosphere personal and dialed in, right down to the choice of steak knives on the table. This is where Opinel comes in — our knives quietly elevate the experience without stealing the limelight. We sat down with Allison to find out how Opinel became part of Beckon’s story, and what makes this little corner of Denver worth seeking out.
I’m a restaurant lifer with a knack for seeing the whole picture. I’ve worked both back
and front of house positions and found my way to where I am today with some luck,
good timing and plenty of long days, but also plenty of fun. Today, I proudly lead the
service team at Beckon, and curate the wares used in the guest experience.
Beckon is cozy, affectionate and delicious. My intention is to compliment Chef Duncan’s
aesthetic, and produce an environment that is subtle and modest but that shows refined
taste and undeniable appeal.

I saw a folding Opinel knife in a gourmet grocery store in Maine and never forgot it.
Opinel does not demand attention, but earns it. That is always attractive to me.
I like to be a part of its story.
Restaurants like Beckon don’t just serve dinner. They pull you in and make you feel part of something a little rare. Every detail matters: the food, the people, the conversation, and, yes, the knife you pick up between courses. We’re proud Opinel has a place at Beckon’s table, in a room where the seasons set the menu and hospitality is anything but ordinary. If you’re in Denver, reserve your spot, settle in, and let yourself notice the small stuff. And if you want a small piece of that experience at home, you know where to find us.
