This duo keeps safety top of mind for little hands with a knife that features a rounded tip and educational ring to help position the fingers and prevent the hand from slipping onto the blade and a polymer finger guard to protect small fingers. The knife features a stainless steel blade and comfortable beech wood handle with a red polymer finger ring. These real kitchen tools are sharp - adult supervision is recommended when using the Le Petit Chef products.
Knife and peeler are hand wash only. Do not immerse your knife or peeler in water, as this could warp the wooden handle.

Love Opinel and the design of the knife and finger guard is great. My 4 year old has now been enrolled in helping with some food prep which has been a lot of fun. My main negative feedback is the top edge of the knife (the non-sharp side) has a very sharp burr edge that leads me to believe they don't finish this edge to smooth it out after it's stamped. The result is my wife and kid both received small lacerations on their finger when supporting the top of the blade.

However, we are sorry that the top part is sharp (as it shouldn't be indeed). We do have a limited lifetime warranty and this would be covered. We bought this for my almost 4 year old daughter who takes great joy in helping me in the kitchen. She was trying to use her pretend wooden knife, from her play kitchen, to cut carrots and it seemed like a good time to get her a knife she can actually use. She was so excited to open this gift on Christmas this year! She is able to hold the handle well because of the kid-friendly design and the knife cuts food really well! To clarify, she does NOT use this knife on her own yet as it is sharp enough to cut little fingers and the finger guard it came with is tricky is wear and hold food at the same time. I also wish this knife would've come with a blade cover, since it is sharp. We will definitely continue to use this knife together, until she's at a point where she can use it on her own. This knife is the perfect size for a 6 and 8 year old.
He loves it. He wanted a more adult type of gift and his father is a great home chef. This hits the mark.
