Since 1803, Le Tour de France has written its legend with spectacular victories, memorable duels and unforgettable champions. One of the most prestigious sport event in the world has become a French symbol, popular and inescapable. When cyclists face the mythical alpine stages, they cross the Opinel territory, la Savoie. Just like Opinel pocket knives, Le Tour De France is deeply rooted in the French culture. The twenty-one stages take racers through the beautiful French countryside and draw large crowds from all backgrounds. Historically, the Alpine stages, packed with hard climbs and high-speed downhill rides, have always been the most epic for racers and spectators. Every year, the peloton goes through the Opinel roundabout in the town of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne.
