When we first met Jérémy, we immediately bonded over a love of design and time spent in nature. His illustrations are inspired by the landscapes, flora and fauna, and pleasures of the great outdoors, and he shares this love with those he meets along his travels through meticulous and evocative tattoos.
For this collection, Opinel decided to work with Jérémy on a specific theme: “Getaway,” the
desire to take off on an adventure, and to delight in the beauty of nature. Three limited edition knives came out of this partnership:
“Azimut” revisits the artistic potential of mountain cartography. The contour lines that decorate the handle and the black blade trace a relief map of the Aiguilles d’Arves, a mountain located in Savoie, France that is part of the Maurienne range, the birthplace of Opinel.
“Bivouac” combines the language of tattoos with that of the outdoors. Its traditional patchwork design weaves together various pieces of equipment and iconic alpine plants in an artistic style that blends fine outlines and pointillism.
“Elevation” is inspired by Japanese prints that pay homage to landscapes and sacred places. A vision of those summits, frozen for just one moment in all their majesty, is recreated in a minimalistic style with fluid lines, blocks of color and subtle shading.
