This limited edition No.08 folding knife features a handle made of Arizona Ironwood - a rare semi-fossilized wood, native to the Sonoran Desert - and a copper-colored PVD coated stainless steel blade. A unique and precious wood, Ironwood is remarkable for its exceptional density. With varied nuances in the Ironwood, each handle of this collection differs slightly in color, ranging from lighter browns to deeper reddish browns. The copper finish on the blade (and Virobloc ring) is achieved through PVD coating, reinforcing the strength of the blade and creates resistance to scratches and wear.
Only 800 were made. 100 are available in the United States. Each blade is numbered, and comes in an oak wood gift box.
Arizona Ironwood is a tree native to the Sonoran Desert in Arizona. The rare wood comes from dead trees that are left to dry in the Arizona heat for many years. As the wood fossilizes, it turns to reddish-brown color with beautiful veining. One of the heaviest and most dense woods to work with, Ironwood was a natural choice for this limited edition folding knife. The handle is polished to give it shine and a silky feel.
The copper finish on our classic stainless steel blade is obtained through a process called Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) - used to produce thin films and coatings. This process (condensed phase to vapor phase to condensed film phase), not only gives a stunning copper finish to the blade, but also hardens the steel for increased durability and resistance to scratches. More environmentally friendly than traditional coating processes. Each blade of this limited edition collection is numbered.
