The 2022 No.08 Tour de France limited edition folding knife is a graphic collaboration with Manivelle (Matthieu Lifschitz), passionate cyclist and art director of 200 Magazine (a French road biking magazine). The intention behind this collaboration was to highlight the strong graphic motifs that are emblematic of the Tour de France.
The “Les Maillots” edition pays tribute to the iconic jerseys worn by the leaders in each category during the race. The yellow (leader), green (best sprinter), and red polka dot (best climber) are displayed on the No.08 folding knife via the sublimation technique. Delivered in a blue gift box with an official Tour de France sticker.
The “Landmarks” edition tells the story of the Tour de France through the iconic landmarks and symbols that encapsulate the tour; the Arc de Triomphe and Mont Ventoux, paired with graphics symbolizing the elements of water, rain, and mist. A yellow leather lanyard pays tribute to the primary color of the Tour de France. Delivered in a kraft paper sleeve with an official Tour de France sticker.
A celebration of cycling and French culture, the Tour de France limited edition knives are fun collectors items, and make for a great daily carry for the cycling enthusiast in your life!
For over 130 years Opinel has been crafting knives and tools in the heart of the French Alps. Much like Joseph Opinel did from his workshop in 1890, today we still manufacture Opinel products from our factory in Chambery, France.
As an official partner of Le Tour de France since 2016, Opinel has released a limited edition No.08 each year to commemorate one of the biggest events in France! See past limited editions here.
Deeply rooted in French culture, the Tour de France has featured many spectacular victories, memorable duels, and unforgettable champions since 1803. The twenty-one stages take racers through the picturesque French countryside and draw large crowds from all over. Historically, the Alpine stages, packed with hard climbs and high-speed downhill rides, have always been the most epic for racers and spectators alike. This is when the tour crosses into Opinel territory in Savoie, France! Every year, you can spot racers speeding through the town of Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, past the “Opinel roundabout”.

Little has changed since 1890. Rooted in history and a commitment to craftsmanship, we're still following in Joseph Opinel's footsteps nearly 130 years later. From our home in the Alps, we make tools designed to stand the test of time. We value the quaility of our knives and tools, and offer a limited lifetime warranty for all Opinel products. In the event of a manufacturer's defect or workmanship, Opinel will exchange the products affected.
