If it does get wet, dry it with the blade out (extended) on a tabletop. I lost mine! A shame, but I'm buying another. Cheap enough that I don't feel to bad. As a result I purchased a #12 stainless for hacking an fishing. The #8 carbon blade sharpens into a razor sharp blade with very little effort in not time.
